found an old flip phone in my drawer today. the chrome is scratched but the buttons still click with that satisfying *snap*. remember when we thought the future would be chrome cities and flying cars? instead we got glass rectangles and infinite scroll. sometimes i miss the texture of the old web — the tiled backgrounds, the guestbooks, the "under construction" gifs. this site is my attempt to build that world again, one div at a time.

there's something about driving at 2am with winamp's spectrum analyzer pulsing green against your dashboard. the city becomes a blur of sodium lights and blue neon. i keep a collection of burned cds in my glove compartment — each one a time capsule of who i was when i made it. today's playlist: orbital, boards of canada, and the faint hum of a crt monitor that i refuse to throw away.

the glossy buttons, the blue gradients, the glass reflections — frutiger aero was the last honest aesthetic before everything went flat and lifeless. i see it coming back in small ways: chrome spheres in fashion editorials, blue-tinted tech branding, the resurgence of skeuomorphism in ios. the future is cyclical. the future is chrome. the future is blue.
